Ryan McDonnell

Originally from the Philadelphia suburbs, Ryan received a B.S. in Chemistry from Temple University in 2021. At Temple, under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Borguet, he developed an appreciation for the ability of spectroscopic techniques to probe complex material properties. After graduating from Temple, Ryan traveled to Madison and joined the Wright Group in Fall 2021 to perform nonlinear spectroscopic studies on ferroelectric materials. He is collaborating with the Jin Group (also at UW!) and the Rappe Group (UPenn) to investigate these complex materials. Ryan is looking forward to using the Waldo and fs systems to perform optical studies on these interesting complex materials. You can also occasionally find Ryan at his desk where he attempts to simulate spectra.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys camping and hiking.

If you have any questions at all about what the Wright Group or Ryan does, you should feel free to email Ryan! See below for his email.
